Chocolate Pairing Week

Chocolate Pairing Week

I'm excited! This is going to be an awesome week! The first time this event happened, a couple of months back, it was for an exclusive audience of about 6 people. ONLY. You can read about that in my blog post , but to make things short, this was a wonderful meal that had chocolates in every course. Right from the starter to the, duh, dessert, everything had chocolates. I mean, chocolate shavings on pasta instead of parmesan! You get it!?! Nitin Chordia, the man behind this, is back. Literally. First he went to Belgium to get chocolates and now he went to London to bring back some chocolates that the best chefs in town will create into a meal! The videos and photos are from his trials that are going on to make this week happen! The schedule is as follows Tuscana Pizzeria, Wallace Gardens during 28-30th Nov from 7pm onwards On the Rocks (Sheraton Park Hotels & Towers) on 28th Nov from 7pm onwards The Flying Elephant (Park Hyatt Chennai) on 29th

Ting Ting Ting Ting Ting. The sound from the glass of Park Hyatt's GM. No response. People were too busy enjoying the pre event snacks and drinks. Ding ding ding dang dang dong dong. The sound of the piano that was at The Apartment. Everyone turned around to see the F&B's EM taking his hands off the piano. I don't think he has played the piano in his life, but his attempt to get everyone's attention paid off! We were told what this event was all about. Most of us already knew and we couldn't wait for it to begin. All of us were ushered in. 9 Chefs lined up. The mic was passed around. Some spoke few words, some a little more. The sommelier from Italy had the maximum attention. For his broken English and his charm. I think it was more for his charm. More attention from the ladies including from the lady who was with me! Hmmph....Anyways. Every chef finished the long or short speech with, 'please visit my counter.' I was pretty sure

Brick House Bistro

Brick House Bistro

Burgers are storming Chennai! While fancy hotels are upping their burgers by a notch, like Park Hyatt, newer players are putting Hard Rock Cafe's Legendary burgers to shame! While a few places have made some noises in Facebook and Twitter, I had the chance to visit only Brick House Bistro a couple of days ago and slurp! That too because I had a scapegoat to drive. Yay! Yeshwin, the brains behind BHB was associated with a start up pizza brand that saw a rapid growth, but one that did not sustain too long. I really hope he has learnt his lessons from that experience, because I would hate to see this wonderful place go down. Walking into this new bistro, I liked the stencil art of cooking greats like Heston and Marco Pierre White and the likes! Nice touch. The place is quite small and can seat about 30 I guess, but he has done the place up quite eclectically. And now the food. Expectations were through the roof and I had been seeing photos of their burgers splashed al

When I saw the airline ticket price for a one way from Mumbai to Chennai, my eyes popped out! Rs. 27000. Thats almost twice the price of a return ticket to Dubai! Or I could stay in a 5 star hotel and take a flight the next day and I would still pay much lesser. But I had to be here for the following day and I had to take a flight. Then I saw a flight at 3 am. Quite unearthly. And that is when my friend came to the rescue. You can easily while away time in Mumbai till 2 am boss. Thats normal hours for us, he said. I'll take you on the best Mumbai culinary street food fest from South to North Mumbai! And that is how I booked the 3 am flight, finished my work in Mumbai at about 7 pm and waited till 8 for him to pick me up from Colaba. And by the time he dropped me at the airport, it was 130 am. This is what happened! Stop Zero: 730 pm. While I was waiting for my friend, I stepped into Olympia Tea house in Colaba, eagerly waiting to try their Kheema Pav, only to be told that it i
