Buharis

Buharis

Ah, its been almost 10 years since I ate at a Buhari's, so when we had the chance for a quite Sunday night dinner, off we went to the outlet opp the Central Railway Station for some Biriyani and some rendezvous for the mother - who just could not stop keep recalling all the times she ate there and the wife countering it with how her mom has always had food there! God knows, but maybe the two have eaten there a few decades back not knowing that their offspring will one day be man and wife! Anyway, we chose to eat in the A/C section, which had a little more sanity to it and once settled down, had a look at the menu. I have no idea why people order fried rice and noodles at Buhari - does not make sense to me, but I saw a few of those being served. We just stuck to what is expected to be good - Chicken Biriyani, Chicken 65, Gobi 65 (wife loves Gobi), Butter Chicken and Naan! The chicken Biriyani was outstanding - I thoroughly enjoyed it - something that happens very rarely for m

Dine - Escape

Dine - Escape

The new chic Escape by Satyam has a nice eat out on the lines of Blur Cafe, but with nicer interiors. So when the family was out at Express and had no mood for self service at the Food Court, we decided to dine at DINE and the whole experience was pretty nice! We did not order starters - just plunged into one main course each. The wife had Lasagna, I had Chicken burger, sisters had one Mandarin Chicken and one Pasta a la Greek and the mom had chiken tikka! The lasagna was pretty decent, with a good serving of sauce on top and well baked. The chicken burger was ok, nothing special, the chicken ala Greek was awesome. Though small, the taste of these two small chicken breast pieces served on a small bed of pasta and fine vegetables was exquisite. The two gravy dishes that we ordered - the Mandarin and the Chicken tikka were served with rice - the Mandarin with egg fried rice and the Tikka with herbed rice and both were simply superb!!!! For dessert we had two portions of Hazelnut m

50 bucks

50 bucks

I was pretty harsh on my first review of 50 bucks and I was not very happy when my friend insisted that I eat there, but I went along anyway to see if anything had improved! I must say that things have improved by leaps and bounds. The full menu is now available and the food is certainly worth what you pay for in that atmosphere! We had three dishes - an omelette with fried rice from the Chinese part of the menu, which was quite filling and the rice tasted decent and the whole combo was Rs 50, a risotto from the Italian part of the menu which was again not the perfect risotto, but a pretty decent one for 50 bucks and Chimichanga from the Mexican part of the menu, which was pretty bad! The final bill was Rs 150 flat - no hidden charges or taxes and the meal was pretty filling for two people - infact the next time I will stick to ordering just two items from the menu for two people and will probably have a drink. Service was pretty quick and polite and the waiter knew the dishes w

Dynasty

Dynasty

The last time (before this visit) to Dynasty was in 2002 in the Old Harrison's hotel, and was not really impressed! But mom wanted to have Chinese and so we decided to try out Dynasty at Harrison's and so off we went for a Sunday dinner!! I called in and made reservations and was promptly seated when we walked in! The interiors were decent and chic and the menu, pretty extensive. We asked our usual fare in any Indo Chinese resto - Chilly Beef, Phuket Fish and this time we added 'Dynasty special Prawns' along with our Wanton soup and fried rice with noodles! The food was good, pleasant, comfort Indo Chinese. The prawns that we had were very well made and tasted great, the chilly beef was not bad, but not great either, but the Phuket fish was made to perfection. The soups were typical Indo chinese and very predictable and therefore nice with no surprizes! We ordered their date pancake with ice creams and the pancakes were also cooked to perfection. The service w
