This is without doubt, among the best Thai restaurants, if not the best, in Chennai. You enter a nice old house style place, with nice vegetable carvings to welcome you! The ambiance is first class and the waiters smart! This has been around for ages and has maintained the quality and taste of food during this time. I love the betal leaves they serve as appetizers with a wide range of herbs and spices to fill and make your own! On this visit, we ordered some Tom Yam soup, the famous chicken wrapped in a leaf and some corn cutlets! Some people cannot stand tom yam soup, but if you like it, this is close to the best you can get! To me, this is a perfect Tom Yam soup! The chicken wrapped in leaves are their specialty and needless to say, they were awesome! The corn cutlets were decent too!!! For the main course, we had one 'Phan tai' I think it was, which is noodles, Thai fried rice, stir fried prawns, chicken and some semi gravy lamb! The noodles were very little in quantity

Mash

Mash

Set in a small, but elegant place on the Elliots Beach, Chennai, this is a great location for any restaurant/bistro whatever! This place is on the first floor, it has a small outdoor seating and another small air conditioned indoor seating. View is amazing as you can see the beach and water and is definitely romantic! But the food is far from satisfactory (at least on the day I was there). We ordered chicken hot dog, lemon butter sauce prawns, 'Aachi Chicken' and BBQ chicken wings! The chicken wings was alright, mainly because the readymade sauce they use is flavorful and saves the dish, while the chicken hot dog was big and decent. The aachi chicken which is some kind of fusion stroganhoff, was pretty bad and the prawns were pathetic! For a beach side restaurant, you really cannot have an excuse to serve bad sea food! The setting being so good, I would want to try the place once again, but I am not motivated enough! Service was ok, nothing to complain about and pricing was

Tuscana Pizzeria

Tuscana Pizzeria

Click for New Update on 10/5/2010 - NEW MENU Tuscana Pizzeria is a new joint venture between the Subway India Franchisee's Vipin Sachdev and the (former) Executive chef at 601, Park- Chef Willy. Hosted at a prime location at Wallace Gardens bordering Egmore and Nungambakkam in Chennai in an already happening food scene comprising of Subway, Mocha, Casa Picola, Coffee Day, a new Mexican restaurant called Texas Fiesta and Cascade (to name just a few), this new outlet could give a few restaurants a run for their money. The decor is simple, elegant and impressive, although once seated you will definitely wish that the next table was slightly far away. The small outdoor seating near the wood fire ovens too give you a similar feeling. On weekends, getting a seat without reservation has obscene waiting times and this does speak something about the restaurant. It also emits a 'I am expensive' stamp to it and the menu will confirm it for you. 3 of us headed out and were luc

Sparky's-Friday Buffet

Sparky's-Friday Buffet

Sparky's has always been a great place to eat American, Mexican, Carribean, Hawaii and the likes, with a good dose of authenticity. So if you are looking for chicken tikka masala tasting pasta, then do not even attempt this place. But if you want a taste of what the west eats, then yeah! Sparky's is located in a spacious setting in Egmore in what was earlier a go-down I was told. The setting is fantastic with red interiors and collectibles from all over the US with a great number of US car number plates and a lot of curios. After a few unsuccessful attempts at ordering the right dish here, followed by a few successful ones, I dragged 3 more of my friend to attempt the Sparky's Buffet, a weekly affair here, with a friendly price! What we saw shocked most of us. Never have we seen so many different non veg dishes for that price (or even higher prices) anywhere in the city (or outside). So we set off to discover each of them and found that quite a few were of great quality a

Tuscana Breakfast!!!!!!

Tuscana Breakfast!!!!!!

While Tuscana was extremely good in patches in my opinion , their breakfast menu which opened up a couple of weeks back kind of lived up to my expectations! A small spread of 4 juices, 3 cereals, 3 sweet breads (today's menu had Cinnamon rolls, plain croissants and another quite tasty bread), one bread roll, a selection of cheese and cold cuts on the spread, a small fruit basket, some yogurt with jam and a huge menu of hot items that are served on the table, can leave you having a satisfied breakfast! You get to choose one hot item from the menu which has some excellent options for both vegetarians and the carnivores!!! The table spread can be used as starters to the breakfast with the hot dish being the main course! Among the various stuff, I chose (like most of the group) the Lamb patty, which is served with hash browns, a garlic bread, some baked beans and herbed tomato! This dish was extremely good to say the least and quite filling thanks to the lamb! The hash browns were
